If you haven't completed the reorganization plan survey, please take a moment to do so. The survey will close at midnight today, Friday, October 8th. The online survey link was sent via email to IowaLib, IA-ACRL, Community College Librarians, Public Library Directors, and Iowa Library Association members.
This survey is not limited to ILA members. The survey provides another way for the whole library community to provide input into the reorganization process.
Thanks to those who have completed the survey!

I have already posted this to Iowa Lib. and inserted it in my survey comments. It is the message that I am committed to carrying wherever it will be heard. I feel that a number of libraries in Iowa feel as I do so I am using the plural, but I take personal responsibility for these views, and as usual: they do not necessarily reflect the views of my library or my board of trustees.
ReplyDeleteWe understand that an immediate decision is needed on the general terms of reorganization in order to comply with the legislature's directives. We also feel that too much is left undecided for us to wholeheartedly support this plan. Therefore, we are willing to support the general concept so long as it is viewed by everyone (legislature included) as a transitional process and not the final form. To help smooth and guide the process, it is crucial to us that current LSA administrators be actively involved in developing the structure that will finally be implemented. Having the current LSA personnel helping to craft the final form will go a long way toward assuring individual libraries that the services they historically received from the LSAs will be transformed into the new structure with the greatest efficiencies while maintaining the heart of the services.
This is what I believe and for which I am advocating.
